I own several excellent cookbooks by Lauren Chattman, so I was excited to see Cookie Swap!: Crowd-Pleasing Cookies That Are Easy to Make and Perfect to Share, which I have found is another excellent cookbook filled with dozens of mouthwatering cookie recipes that are suitable for swapping, and also suitable for eating, serving, and sharing.
The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow. The recipes are suitable for beginning and also for advanced bakers. Most are quite easy to make. Chattman has included notes, tips, and information at the top of each recipe to further the success of picture perfect cookies at home. Incidentally, each recipe is accompanied by a photograph of the cookies; as far as I am concerned, this is an essential component of any cookbook, and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Every time I look at this book, my “must make soon” queue gets longer. I made the Classic Oatmeal Raisin Cookies first because that is my husband’s favorite. They turned out perect and are soft like he likes. I like that the author includes variations of some recipes. I also like that there is a variety of drop cookies, hand shaped cookies, bars and squares, etc. There is something here for everyone and every taste.
All told, this one is a winner and an excellent choice to add to a recipe collection.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
